Lynwood Home Care’s Carmen Ionescu Wins National Care and Support Award

We’re delighted to share some wonderful news from Lynwood Village, as our very own Carmen Ionescu has been named the winner of the Care and Support Worker Award (Independent) at the prestigious Housing with Care Awards 2026.

The national awards recognise individuals who make an exceptional difference to the lives of those they support, celebrating dedication, compassion and excellence across the care sector.

For Carmen, who has been part of our Lynwood Home Care team for five years, the award is a well-deserved recognition of her commitment to helping people live independently, confidently and comfortably in their own homes.
Celebrating Carmen’s Achievement

With more than 15 years of experience in care, Carmen has worked across a variety of settings, including community care, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and critical care.

Here at Lynwood Village, she is a valued member of our Home Care team, known for her thoughtful approach, professionalism and genuine commitment to the people she supports.

Whether helping with everyday routines, finding practical solutions or simply taking the time to get to know someone, Carmen understands the importance of providing support that respects each person’s independence and individual choices.

Carmen was joined at the awards ceremony by Karen Martin, Lynwood Village’s Care and Support Manager, who was delighted to see her colleague recognised on a national stage.

Karen said:

Reflecting on her achievement, Carmen shared what receiving the award meant to her:

“When I was named a finalist, I said the recognition made me walk a little bit taller. To now be standing here as the winner is an incredible feeling.”

“Of course I’m happy and ecstatic, but I also feel a great responsibility. Receiving an award isn’t the end of the journey. The work isn’t done, and I want to continue living up to what this award represents every day through the care and support I provide.”

“I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of my colleagues and the wonderful people I care for. I’m proud, grateful and honoured.”
