Our Macmillan Coffee Morning raises £540 for Macmillan Cancer Support

We all came together for our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising a fantastic £540 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Around 50 homeowners, team members and friends joined us in The Atrium on Friday 25 September for a morning of homemade cakes, tea, coffee and plenty of conversation, all while supporting a cause that means so much to so many.

A real Lynwood community effort

Our cake table was certainly well stocked, thanks to our lovely homeowners and members of the Lynwood team who got busy baking for the occasion. From coffee cake and carrot cake to lemon drizzle and homemade meringues, there was plenty to tempt everyone!

Rather than setting prices, we invited guests to choose something they fancied and make a donation to Macmillan. The generosity shown throughout the morning was wonderful to see.

We also had some extra help with our fundraising from Lydia’s Ladies Clothing, a regular visitor to events here at Lynwood, who kindly donated a necklace for an auction. The bidding raised an additional £50 towards our final total and was also joined by a Flamingo Paperie card stall.

Deborah May, Fitness and Wellbeing Lead at Lynwood Village, said:

“We were absolutely delighted to raise £540. Everyone was so generous, from our homeowners who baked cakes to everyone who donated and supported us on the day.“

“We actually had fewer cakes than last year but managed to raise even more money, which was fantastic. There was such a lovely atmosphere in the Atrium and everyone really got behind the morning.”

Coming together at Lynwood Village

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning has become something of an annual tradition, and we were especially pleased to surpass the more than £300 raised last year.

But while raising £540 is certainly something to celebrate, mornings like this are also about what we value here at Lynwood: spending time together, getting involved and enjoying being part of a community.

Cliff Hasler, Services Director at Lynwood Village, said:

“Community is a huge part of life at Lynwood, and it’s wonderful to see our homeowners getting involved in causes that mean something to them.”

“Events like this are about much more than fundraising. They bring people together, create opportunities to connect and reflect the warm, welcoming community we’re very proud to have here.”

A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated, joined us on the day or helped behind the scenes. We’re incredibly proud to have raised £540 together for Macmillan Cancer Support.
